Unisex toilet refurbishment at senior school in Suffolk

Overview

During the summer holidays, Focus Washrooms embarked on a transformative project at Stoke High School, converting a boys toilet and a storeroom into two brand-new unisex facilities. In a six-week timeframe, the team successfully delivered two modern and inclusive washrooms.

Construction

Many years ago, the store room was a washroom with a back corridor entrance. We removed a section of the corridor wall and opened it out onto the main corridor so it could be used as toilets once again. Construction work with installation of lintels for new structural openings took place to open out the entrance of the boys toilets too. With the construction work, we made good the face brickwork corridor wall. In both washrooms, new plumbing, ceilings, electrical systems, decorating, long lasting vinyl flooring, and easy maintenance, full height, hygienic wall cladding were included.

Design

As the cubicles were full height for privacy in a Unisex washroom, each cubicle had its own air extraction system and lighting. In the hand washing areas, durable Trovex Smarttroughs complete with soft-touch push taps provided a user-friendly and water-saving experience. The solid surface material of the Smarttroughs is highly durable, minimising the risk of damage through frequent use and energetic students.

The room was carefully designed to ensure maximum privacy without compromising pupil safeguarding in a unisex environment. The colour scheme was grey and olive which is a good neutral colour choice for unisex washrooms.

Result

The transformed washrooms are a testament to Focus Washrooms expertise and commitment to quality. They seamlessly blend into the main corridor, maximising space without obstructing traffic flow. More importantly, they offer a safe, hygienic, and inclusive environment for all students.
