Toilet refurbishment at Surrey senior school

Overview

Ashcombe School, seeking to expand their washroom facilities, partnered with Focus Washrooms to redesign four areas into comprehensive boys' and girls' washrooms. This initiative aimed to accommodate the growing needs of the student and staff population.

Project

Focus Washrooms undertook the transformation of existing spaces, including a staff toilet and kitchen, into state-of-the-art washrooms. The innovative design opened the facilities onto the main corridor, enhancing supervision and allowing for future conversion to unisex use. Our design strategy maximized cubicle space with full-height partitions for privacy, upgraded electrical systems, and introduced modern elements like hygienic wall cladding and suspended ceilings. The installation of solid surface wash troughs with sensor taps in the handwashing areas underscored our commitment to hygiene and user convenience.

Special features

Fitting in the maximum number of cubicles in a practical manner that utilised existing drainage pipework and without major structural works tested our 25 years experience in washroom design and took 4 different designs before arriving at the final plan.

We completed the strip out of existing washrooms at the end of the summer holiday and the remaining works took place in the 3 weeks after the summer holiday. Works were just beside a busy corridor which was in use as the term started, but as term time washroom refurbishment experts, we were able to minimise disruption to the school.

The Result

The refurbishment was completed punctually, reinforcing Ashcombe School’s trust in Focus Washrooms and leading to additional project engagements. Our ability to deliver timely and effective washroom solutions underlines our position as leaders in educational refurbishments.
