With a shared passion for innovation and design, the Focus Washroom team worked closely with our science park client to define the specification of new washrooms and shower pods for their after-work state-of-the-art sports and gym facilities.
This executive science park research centre employs over 100 scientists and technicians and being open 24/7 means that the location is always a busy hub of activity. The iconic building has been awarded Grade II listing to ensure the building is preserved for future generations. Both of these factors above represented some key challenges for our team to tackle, in that careful scheduling of works were undertaken to ensure that our activity would cause little or no disruption, and increased health and safety measures were taken whilst we worked in a busy environment with employees and members of the public.
Being a listed building meant that everything had to comply with the Grade II Listed Buildings Regulations. In total, we designed four refurbished washrooms and a new staff shower and changing rooms with shower facilities. Key features included Solid Surface Washtroughs complete with a unique waste paper chute and hinged bin that was cleverly concealed in the vanity unit. An Alavo System was fitted where the soap dispenser, TMV, water heater, hand dryer and tap were all concealed within the mirror unit above the wash trough to give a sleek and seamless finish.
Our innovative complete shower pods are designed and manufactured to enable easy and quick installation through existing doorways and can be fitted in only a few hours. We sourced high quality and hard wearing hardwood, Teak, from Europe to create robust changing room benching and all of the walls were finished with Trovex Diamond Hygenic Wall Cladding.
The overall effect of the refurbishment was a modern and contemporary washroom space that was fit for purpose, robust and easy to maintain. Our client was thrilled with the results and in particularly impressed with Focus Washrooms’ innovative hygiene solutions.
