Public toilet refurbishment in Norfolk

Overview

As part of a broader initiative with East Suffolk Council, we undertook the refurbishment of the Blyburgate Public Toilets. This project was one of three public convenience refurbishments aimed at enhancing the experience for local residents and tourists alike.

  • Our approach began with a complete stripout of the existing washroom, followed by a comprehensive internal refurbishment. To address concerns around anti-social behaviour, we reconfigured the layout for improved security.

Exterior doors were replaced with durable and sustainable doors. We replaced and refurbished all of the electrical and plumbing systems. Ceiling-height hygienic wall cladding was installed for easy maintenance and a clean, modern appearance. Durable vinyl flooring was selected to withstand heavy foot traffic from the public.

This project was our first project to include the Trovex Hygipod IPS system—a hygienic PVC wrapped WC and urinal duct system with hinged access doors. This innovative choice replaced the traditional laminate duct system, to provide a hygienic and durable finish which is easy to clean and maintain.

  • This washroom refurbishment coincided with car park resurfacing works where the toilets are located. Safe pedestrian routes past the toilet block had to be created to allow access to the shops during the refurbishment.

  • Our successful collaboration with East Suffolk Council on multiple projects has solidified a positive working relationship. The client's satisfaction is a testament to our commitment to quality and efficiency. We look forward to future collaborations.
