Open plan washroom design at senior school in Norfolk
Overview:
Attleborough High School, a key member of the Sapientia Education Trust, required a significant washroom refurbishment to create brighter and more welcoming spaces for students. Focus Washrooms was appointed to reconfigure the existing boys and girls washrooms. The primary goal was to transform these areas from dim, secluded spaces into modern and open plan facilities that prioritise student safety and hygiene.
Project design:
A meticulous strip-out process paved the way for a complete overhaul, including new electrical and plumbing systems. We removed existing walls to open up the washrooms onto the corridors. This transformation created a more open and inviting atmosphere, enhancing natural light and improving visibility for staff to informally monitor washrooms.
Key features and specifications
To ensure durability and compliance with school regulations, the project included several high specification features:
Hygienic Wall Cladding: Full height cladding provides an easy to clean surface that withstands heavy use.
Safety Flooring: Non slip flooring was installed throughout to ensure student safety in wet areas.
Individual Extraction: Each cubicle features dedicated air extraction and sensor LED lighting to meet current building regulations.
Solid Surface Wash Troughs: We installed back to back solid surface wash troughs at a central handwashing station. These troughs are equipped with water saving taps to reduce waste and prevent accidental flooding.
The Result:
The project was successfully completed on time and within the specified budget. The new open plan washrooms at Attleborough High School are functional, contemporary and secure. By combining a professional grey and purple colour scheme with robust materials, we have delivered a facility that enhances the daily environment for both students and staff.
